Walking Beam Steam Engine Walking Beam Steam Engine

Walking Beam Steam Engine

Lot #2000A (Sale Order 2 of 353)

Titled "The Age of Elegance" this is one of the finest model steam engines you will find! The "Beam" engine is a type of steam engine where a pivoted overhead beam is used to apply the force from a vertical piston to a vertical connecting rod. Around 1705 Thomas Newcomen used a configuration such as this one to remove water from mines in Cornwall England. The efficiency of the engines was improved by James Watt who added a separate condenser, Jonathan Hornblower and Arthur Wolf. Although beam engines were first used to pump water out of mines or into canals, they were also used to pump water to supplement the flow for a waterwheel powering a mill. This Walking Beam Steam Engine is modeled from a Circa 1850 Twenty Horse Engine. With HIGH DETAIL this is an incredible piece to any steam collector!

Lot #2111 (Sale Order 122 of 353)

Cletrac was a manufacturer of tractors for military and civilian use, first organized by Rollin White as the Cleveland Motor Plow Co. in 1916. White, a founder of the White Motor Co. had 10 years earlier formed this new firm to produce the crawler-type tractor he had developed for general farm use. Renamed Cleveland Tractor Co. in 1917, the company sold 40,000 tractors in the U.S. and 70 foreign countries during its first decade. In the early 1930s, the needs of the Civilian Conservation Corps. and public works projects kept the plant open and by 1937 Cletrac had record tractor sales here and abroad. Two years later, the company introduced 3 new lower-priced tractors with 4-cylinder engines for use by the small farmer.

12-20 Case Crossmotor

Lot #2113 (Sale Order 124 of 353)

The Case 12-20 was first introduced in 1921. The increased power resulted from an engine bore of 4 1/8 X 5 inches compared to 3 7/8 X 5 inches for the earlier 10-18 Tractor. A forced feed lubrication was sent to all main, connecting rod and camshaft bearings, as well to governor parts. The most obvious chance from the earlier 10-18 is the use of special steel wheels. In 1922 Nebraska Tractor Test No. 88 was first performed on the 12-20 to establish defined horsepower, fuel economy and other factor on an impartial basis. A year later in 1923 an additional test No. 91 resulted in a substantially higher horsepower rating. This test indicated with a Kingston L-3 carburetor and Bosch AT-4 the tractor would produce 25 1/2 horsepower using kerosene fuel.
The 12-20 is a highly sought after crossmotor and is very collectable. Any collector with these tractors knows original parts are hard to come by! This 12-20 has been beautifully restored with several eye catching features added! While looking over the tractor one finds themselves attracted to not only the professional paint job but the added brass features that have been added making this one of the finest crossmotor Case tractors out there.

Lot #2114 (Sale Order 125 of 353)

In 1926 the 20-35 had a new set of serial numbers issued and was re-rated to a 27- 44 to better reflect its actual power output.   This 1926 first year production Twin City starts, runs and drives just as good today as it did coming off the factory floor. Sporting it's original work cloths, full factory steel with angled cleats this BIG tractor will be an eye catcher at any event. 30 HP Case Portable Steam Engine

Lot #2121 (Sale Order 132 of 353)

The 30HP Case steam engine was in production from 1898 until 1916. From 1898 till 1909 the 7 1/4 X 10 sized engine had a rating of 9HP. In 1910 Case adopted a rating system based on the brake horsepower the engine produced. Even though the 9HP engine was virtually identical to the newly rated 30HP model, it sounded bigger! Being one of the best marketing companies this is one of the reasons Case changed the horsepower ratings of their engines. With the rapid expansion and high demand for bigger engines to break open the prairies Case only produced 847 30HP engines making these smaller steamers more desirable.
This 30 HP portable Case engine is the finest example of this sized steamer you will find! This Case is ready for water and fire today. Full restoration and the hard work have already been done, and to set this engine off a blue jacket has been added to the boiler barrel. 10 Ton Buffalo Springfield Roller

Lot #2124 (Sale Order 135 of 353)

Before 1889, no road rollers were made in the United States. The O.S. Kelly Company had been building steam traction engines to pull rollers imported from England, but O.S. Kelly decided it was time to go into the business. The Kelly-Springfield Road Roller Company launched its first line in 1902 and by 1910 was the largest producer of road rollers in the world. They merged with their biggest rival, Buffalo Steam Roller in 1913 to become Buffalo-Springfield eventually becoming Koehring, then finally BOMAG, U.S.A.
It is uncertain when this 10 Ton Buffalo Springfield Roller was retired but shorty thereafter it was displayed at Oscars Dreamland in Billings, MT for several years. Mr. Bishop purchased this roller during the auction and spent several years restoring the engine to what you see today. The boiler and gearing both look like they have NEVER been used. A full cosmetic restoration was given and attention to detail was not overlooked! Along with a new canopy canvas side curtains where made and installed for those cold winter days.

12 Ton Buffalo Springfield Roller

Lot #2125 (Sale Order 136 of 353)

The Buffalo-Springfield Roller Co. was formed as a merger of the Buffalo Pitts Co. and the Kelly-Springfield Road Roller Co. in 1916. In order to economize on manufacturing facilities, the Buffalo operation was moved to Springfield, OH. For five years the two ?engaged? companies produced Kelly Springfield Road Rollers and Buffalo Pitts Steam Rollers under the same roof. This strange situation finally came to an end in 1921 when a "holdout" stockholder sold his shares. In 1917, the Company experienced a brief set-back when the plant was destroyed by fire. However, it was rebuilt within six months. The Company continued producing and selling rollers with a bare minimum of complications all through the 1920?s.
This 1929 12 ton roller started its life in Manhattan at the Sicilian Asphalt Company in 1929. The company used it and a smaller 10 ton roller until the 1940's. Mr. Haggerty, the gentleman who owned Sicilian had a summer house in Remsenburg out near Riverhead, NY. He brought them there, kept in a barn and used at the summer employee parties. The older retied employees loved to operate them at the parties in the 1950's and 60's. Then they sat in the barn until 1970. Mr. Haggerty's family had an auction and among the several rollers he stored there that was sold that day, John Degen of Southampton bought 2 of them. He did repairs on each of them. He operated the rollers at shows and parades.  Mr. Degen  reached a point that he was not able to operate them due to health reasons so they sat again.  About 10 years go by and he donates them to the Long Island Antique Power Association. This Buffalo Springfield Roller is one of the very few existing examples of these engines produced. This engine features an older restoration, steam pressure scarifier and is fully complete. Gearing is in good to excellent condition. Roller has been displayed and operated under its own power.

New wood bunkers with brass lining, new canopy with brass brackets, brass plumbing, brass levers and new saddle tanks. This Rumely was displayed and operated at the Old Threshers Reunion for several years before being put into dry climate controlled storage for several years. Gearing is in great shape and this engine is ready to fill with water and light a fire! Last boiler inspection was from the state of Colorado in 1999 and given 150 PSI. You will NEVER have another chance to own an engine like this, pictures do NOT do this engine justice!

1914 Model T Speedster 1914 Model T Speedster

1914 Model T Speedster

Lot #2130 (Sale Order 141 of 353)

This is a unique 1914 Ford Model T racer type car that I've owned since I was 15 years old. (I am 51 now). The car has always been in Livonia, NY, since it was built by its first owner, Harry Ward. Harry was always an automobile man here in town and started out working when he was 16 years old as a repair and parts man for Elmer Heath Garage. "Heaths Garage", as it was known, sold new Fords and used cars as early as 1910. Harry built the car from parts that he acquired at the garage. The car was built as a ONE-MAN racer to be used at the local HEMLOCK FAIRGROUNDS RACE TRACK. The track was for horses but in the early 1910s-1940s it was also used for stock cars and jalopys. The wheelbase was shortened to 88 inches and the track (width) is 42 inches. The front axle was narrowed and hammer welded together. (I purposely never cleaned up the hammer weld as I wanted to preserve the original modification). The axle was also reconfigured near the outboard ends to lower the car. The front spring eyes were rolled under and leaves shortened. The rear axle tubes were shortened on the differential end and reconnected by gas welding. The axles were shortened on the gear ends. The rear springs were cut down and leaves removed. The way he shortened the frame was by cutting the rails and sliding the ends past each other and bolting in place. The wheels are 1926-27 wires that I put on the car when I fixed it up years ago, as the wood wheels were shot. They are an excellent set of wheels, the best I could find back when they were plentiful. The front hubs are stock and the rear hubs were wood wheel hubs and drums that I centered on a Bridgeport mill and bored 5 holes through the flanges to make small drum wire wheel hubs. Model T Ford 26-27 wheel studs were pressed in the holes. The ring and pinion is the quick one. (3-1 if I remember correctly.) The engine is stock that I went through when I got the car. It has new rings, valves and bearings. I added a flywheel ring gear and installed a starter but car has no generator. It runs good both on battery and magneto. The only modification I made to the engine was I inverted the intake maniford, pressurized the fuel tank and installed a small down draft carburetor with adjustable fuel regulator that I have set at 2 lbs. The exhaust manifold was also inverted and blows out the side of the hood via a brass nipple. You can't believe what a difference it made-the 2 modifications. The car will run 55mph! The hood and radiator are original to the car. The radiator is an extra thick cored LIVINGSTON RADIATOR. The steering and coil box are all original to car. I remember asking Mr Ward about the gas pedal and he told me it was a DODGE BROTHERS.

This car was Ward's first special FORD. He went on to build other Speedsters. He kept this one and never sold it. It was stored in the upstairs of a barn behind his house. I did work for the car and took it apart to get it down from the loft. My Dad worked for Ward in the 1950s so I knew him well and was able to get the complete history of the car.

The buyer would buy 14 groups or packages of parts for $27.00 which would be put together with the plans and tools supplied, or a factory-assembled automobile could be bought for $600.00. This plan was in effect until 1911 when it became impractical to compete with a dealer-supplied model "T" Ford.

White Touring Car

Lot #2134 (Sale Order 144 of 353)

The White Motor Company was an American car, truck, bus and tractor manufacturer from 1900 until the 1980's. In the early years of production White produced some of the finest most desirable steam powered cars and trucks to hit the market. The White steamer used unique technology, and it was vulnerable in a market that was accepting the internal combustion engine as the standard. White canvassed existing gas manufacturers and licensed the rights to the Delahaye design for the "gas car", showing a chassis at an English auto show in December 1908.
This White Motor Company six-passenger limousine/touring car is one of the finest examples of the improved gas powered White cars you will find still surviving today! This vehicle has a 4-cylinder engine, vacuum fuel pump system and magneto. The ignition and lighting systems were made by Warner and Leece-Neville. It features four doors, front and rear seats with new leather coverings, one rear jump seat, as well as a canvas convertible top for a nice Sunday drive. There has been brass added during the restoration giving this car more curb appeal! 1952 Vincent Rapide 1952 Vincent Rapide

1952 Vincent Rapide

Lot #2137 (Sale Order 147 of 353)

Well traveled Vincent Rapide is no show queen; it's a bike that's clearly been ridden and sorted out, and it's ready for more miles to be taken rapidly down the road. Rapide was the original name of Philip Vincent's V-twins, which had terrific power and good handling when they first appeared in 1938 with full suspension front and rear and doubled-up brake drums. While it was the fastest production motorcycle in the work, the original Rapide had many issues, as the engine produced too much power for its clutch and Burman4-speed gearbox, and the mass of external oil lines gave rise to the nickname "plumber's nightmare" During WWII, Philip Vincent and Australian engineer Phil Irving redesigned the Rapide for a postwar debut, correcting the faults of the original and adding a host of rider conveniences, like hand-adjustable chain tension, brake adjustment, wheel removal and even the rail of the front forks. The first postwar Rapide used Brampton girder forks and the engine as a stressed chassis member with the oil tank atop the motor, bridging the attached steering hear to the seat and shock=absorber mounts. The swingarm was Irving's patented design from 1928, and the wheels used doubled=up drum brakes on both ends. All the oilways were now inside the aluminum castings for the unit-construction motor, which was very strong and very fast with a 110MPH guaranteed top speed for the Series B in 1946, although some riders found the top speed more like 120 MPH. The Rapide was updated in 1950 with Pilip Vincent's forged-aluminum Girdraulic fords that resisted sideways deflection wile cornering and provided excellent suspension with hydraulic damping.
This upgraded 1952 Vincent Series C Rapide uses the paint, wheels size and 5-inch speedo of the Black Shadow model. It's also gained the far more comfortable Series D seat mount, which isolates the passenger from rear-wheel movement, making it far more comfortable. Installed with an Amal Concentric carburetors for better performance, and the quality of the finish is excellent overall. If you're looking for a rider, this Rapide is your huckleberry.
